What: A roleplaying opportunity to show your characters at their best or worst in a time of stress, whie providing character development.
When: Hopefully two months from now at most.
Who: All blood-drinking characters, though primarily vampires.
Where: The Multiverse chat, of course!
Why: To see if it is possible to arrange an event that includes as many people as possible

What
This is a roleplaying opportunity intended to include as many people as possible in a single event to promote character development and community spirit. The concept is simple; a person has poisoned the water supply of Wing City (and surrounding areas) with a chemical that induces a painful reaction from vampiric individuals. As non-vampires drink the water it will eventually enter their blood stream, resulting in vampires being unable to feed from people without experiencing immense pain.
It's a chance for roleplayers to show their vampires at their very best or their very worst in a time of high stress in the city. Don't think of it as a problem that needs to be avoided or ignored, think of it as an opportunity to show your what your character is really like in dark times, what they really are on the inside, deep down.

When
Hopefully no later than two months (as I plan to coordinate it with the new Multiverse newspaper).

Who
The plan is only to affect vampiric individuals, but in the big scheme of things it should also affect their friends and even the community who aren't involved, due to an increase in the number of vampire attacks.

Where
The Multiverse, of course. The entire event will take place in chat over the course of maybe a week.

Why
This is sort of a roleplaying experiment to see if it is at all possible, with time and effort invested, to arrange a big event for the community in the Multiverse to get involved on one big event. If this works then in the future it might be possible to arrange for other events to further unite the community and make it feel like one big roleplay that we're all involved in.

Can you help?
There are two things each person can do to possibly help, the first is join in. If you have a vampire, get in on the idea. The second thing you can do is share the information around. If you know someone who has a vampire character in the Multiverse, tell them to check this topic out. If you want to join in, make sure you post and keep checking up on this topic for updates on when the event will happen.

With the combined efforts of the roleplaying community, we can help forge a better roleplaying world in the Multiverse, that encourages people to work together to form stories that promote character growth.

UN chief urges Gadhafi forces to stop fight (AP)

UNITED NATIONS ? Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi on Monday to stop fighting immediately and make way for "a smooth transition" that ensures a free and democratic future for the country.

The U.N. chief told reporters it is important that the conflict ends with no further loss of life and without retribution. He did not specifically call for Gadhafi to step down.

Ban welcomed assurances from rebel leader Mustafa Abdel-Jalil that "extreme care" will be taken to protect civilians and public institutions, and maintain law and order.

Ban announced that he will hold a meeting on Libya later this week with heads of major organizations, including the Arab League, African Union, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and European Union.

He said the U.N. stands ready to extend "all possible assistance" to the Libyan people once the fighting ends.

"This is a hopeful moment but also there are risks ahead," Ban warned. "Now is the time for all Libyans to focus on national unity, reconciliation and inclusiveness."

For several months, Ban's special adviser on post-conflict assistance, Ian Martin, has been working on plans at U.N. headquarters.

The secretary-general said Martin and special envoy Abdelilah Al-Khatib, who had been trying to get the Libyan government and rebels to agree on a cease-fire and political transition, will travel to Doha, Qatar, to meet with the leadership of the opposition National Transitional Council which Jalil heads.

"Certainly Libya will be open to accept assistance of the United Nations and assistance also from the international community as a whole," Libya's deputy U.N. ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi, one of the first Libyan diplomats to disown Gadhafi's regime and support the rebels, said in an AP interview.

Speaking at Libya's U.N. Mission, with the rebels' red, green and black flag behind him, Dabbashi called the upcoming meetings important and said the National Transitional Council will determine what kind of assistance is needed.

The Security Council has imposed sanctions on Libya and authorized military action to protect civilians caught in conflict.

Dabbashi said as soon as the interim government is established in Tripoli it will ask for the arms embargo to be lifted and the "unfreezing" of Libya's assets.

"Without unfreezing the government cannot function normally," he said. "We expect these actions to be taken as soon as possible."

Ban said it is up to NATO to decide when to halt its operations but he said the alliance "has been instrumental" in implementing Security Council resolutions on Libya "and I recognize their efforts to avoid civilian casualties in the course of their operations."

Haynesworth pleads no contest to simple assault

WASHINGTON (AP) ? NFL defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth pleaded no contest to a charge of simple assault on Monday to resolve a case in which he was accused of touching a waitress' breast while having drinks with friends at a Washington hotel.

If he stays out of trouble over the next 18 months and completes 160 hours of community service, prosecutors will drop the charge entirely. Haynesworth, who was recently traded from the Washington Redskins to the New England Patriots, appeared in D.C. Superior Court to enter his plea.

After a prosecutor read the facts the government would have proven at trial in the case, including that Haynesworth had slid his credit card down the woman's shirt and touched her breast, the judge asked Haynesworth to respond.

"I do not contest the government's proffer of facts on this charge," he said.

Haynesworth, 30, was originally facing the more serious charge of sexual abuse in the case, which stemmed from a visit to the W Hotel in February. If convicted of that charge in a trial that was set to begin Tuesday, he would have faced up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Prosecutors dropped that charge Monday as part of the plea agreement.

Under the deal, Haynesworth must undergo alcohol abuse and psychological assessments and refrain from any threatening or harassing behavior over the next 18 months. If Haynesworth violates the conditions of the deal, which also include obeying all laws and court orders, he faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine under the simple assault charge.

The judge set a status hearing in the case for Feb. 21. Haynesworth's attorney, A. Scott Bolden, said he didn't want to be presumptuous but asked for a hearing in late February so as to avoid a potential conflict with the Super Bowl, a fact the judge also noted.

Mohyeldin joins NBC News as foreign correspondent

NEW YORK (AP) ? Former NBC newsman Ayman Mohyeldin is returning to the network where he started his career a decade ago.

Mohyeldin, who will be based in Cairo and cover the Middle East, rejoins NBC next month, the network announced Monday.

He comes from Al Jazeera English, where he has been a correspondent for five years. There he covered Arab revolutions, Israeli politics and human rights abuses in the Arabian Gulf. Prior to that, he worked for Fox News and CNN.

He began his journalism career in 2001 at NBC News as a desk assistant in the network's Washington bureau.

Mohyeldin was born in Cairo and grew up in Detroit, Amman, Jordan, and Marietta, Ga.

Personally, I keep all tax records for ten years because the IRS has that amount of time to go back and pursue you for unpaid taxes (even though the SOL on an audit is 3 years, I?ve heard a lot of horror stories). You may not be that a-r, but you can get copies of past returns from the IRS for a fee.

You can get copies of your titles and deeds of trust for property from the courthouse in your county of residence, or from the lender if you still owe. Automobile title copies can be purchased from the bureau of motor vehicles.

In addition, you should keep copies of wills, powers of attorney (medical and general), life, auto and homeowner?s insurance policies, and your bank statements (I keep the past 5 years of those).
