Microsoft Studios is looking for a seasoned human resource professional to serve as an HR Manager in support of several key areas of our business.
This role has generalist/business partner responsibilities including developing, managing, implementing, and integrating HR programs and guidelines for the business in support of organizational objectives. This includes developing strong business relationships with senior management, studios leaders, and a unique to Microsoft client group including artists, game designers, and producers in addition to our strong traditional technical roles; developing and driving the people strategy for the business; analysing and presenting information to the management team that enables good business decisions; and driving and supporting cross-group and cross-region client and HR initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
The HR Manager is accountable for executing the HR Plan for an assigned organization. Contributes business perspective and client requirements to the development of the annual HR Plan. Commits to delivery of the HR Plan within the assigned organization(s). Understand the business, particularly the nature of creative content studios. Work closely with domestic and international HR partners to ensure seamless strategic management of the organization. May deliver lateral work across assigned client or business (eg Employee Relations, Performance Management, Employee/Manager Development or Talent Planning and Management).
Accountable for successful delivery of all HR programs and processes for the individual business or client. Key among these programs:
oStaffing Programs: Partners with Staffing to understand the Workforce Plan. Understands Global Diversity and Inclusion metrics and leverages opportunities to build diversity within the business.
oEmployee Relations: Accountable for managing employee relations concerns, adhering to Microsoft and HR policy while following guidance from LCA. Drives resolution of issues, in collaboration with partners in staffing and legal and escalates when necessary.
oCompensation and Benefits: Collaborates with Compensation partners and delivers Compensation and Benefits support for the client business.
oPerformance Management: Accountable for delivery of Performance Management processes, including Mid-Year Check-In and Performance Review, following the plan devised by the HRD - Org.
oEmployee/Manager Development: Follows the local HR Plan to implement Employee & Management Excellence programs and build capability and effectiveness in the line organization.
oDiversity & Inclusion: Supports the engagement of business leaders and other HR colleagues on specific HR ROB components of the D&I plan (eg People Review, Mid-Year Review, Learning and Development). Partners with GD&I Manager and team to ensure D&I goals/plans are integrated in the ROB implementation.
oGlobal Mobility: Is accountable for ensuring that employees identified for international or domestic moves are provided with appropriate support and resources from the Global Mobility organization, in fulfillment of Microsoft programs, the Workforce Plan, and while adhering to Microsoft policy.
oMS Poll Planning: Supports business leaders in interpreting MS Poll results, and collaborates with these leaders to develop plans to address employee feedback.
Accountable for talent planning and management for the client/business, in fulfillment of the HR Plan.
oIdentifies Hipo employees and drives delivery of local programs for this population, following direction from the COE regarding line/center program responsibilities.
oCollaborates with HR Leadership to design talent planning solutions that will fulfil the HR Plan and serve the business. Supports delivery of People Review for the business through research and delivery of inputs to the People Review deck.
oConsults with clients and HR Leadership team to deliver planned organizational changes. Develops change management plan, manages communications and announcements. Manages re-deployment and force reduction.
oExecute reductions and employee communication per program, coordinating with legal and mitigating risk where appropriate.
Collaborates with the HR Leadership team to diagnose and identify interventions needed to improve organizational effectiveness. Enables successful execution of organizational restructuring, in partnership with business leaders.
Supports HR-related communications rollouts for assigned organizational client, ensuring that client is prepared to address HR programs and processes with accuracy and following the HR calendar. Collaborates with internal program leaders, addresses client concerns proactively, and ensures business compliance with HR programs.
In partnership with HR leaders, is accountable for the organizational health of the assigned organizational client, and contributes to efforts to shape and evolve the business culture. Partner with and coach business and studio leadership team to facilitate organization and culture change.
May have accountability for horizontal work across the organization (eg driving HR program rollout and execution across the organization.
Ensures the assigned organizational client organization follows Microsoft and HR policies and regulations, as well as local workforce laws. Ensures business leaders are making decisions and taking actions that are in accordance with them.

Experience with delivery of HR ROB
Education and Experience
Education Level Required - BS/BA degree required, MBA or an advanced degree in HR preferred
Years of Experience Required - 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience
Candidates will possess strong generalist capabilities and proven business partner experience in a large, preferably high tech, rapidly changing business environment. Experience in the gaming or entertainment industry is a plus. Understanding of organizational dynamics and the ability to think strategically are essential. Strong knowledge of HR and ability to apply to complex organizational issues is required. Expert level generalist skills and the ability to develop talent, mentor, and provide guidance to others within HR and the management team on complex issues. Strong consulting and analytical skills are essential. Ability to effectively work and communicate at all levels within the organization. A commitment to strategic business partnerships is a must. Must be able to multi-task, deal with ambiguity, work in a team environment, recognize trends, and identify systematic approaches to solving problems in this fast moving, dynamic environment. Demonstrated competence in coaching, employee relations, knowledge of employment laws and supervisory experience required. Candidates must have excellent leadership, project management, problem solving, oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills along with ability to work in a team environment. A bachelors degree is required, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
