Historic moment: Parade marks merger of Yorkshire battalions

Soldiers strode into a new chapter in the region?s military history at a parade to mark a major reshuffle of the Yorkshire Regiment.

The Exchange of Colours display in Warminster saw the 3rd Battalion renumber to become the 1st Battalion, while the original 1st Battalion has now become the 2nd Battalion.

The original 2nd Battalion ? the Green Howards ? has merged with the other two units as part of the shake-up.

The parade was attended by Prince Andrew, who is Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment, and the Duke of Wellington.
