Most Microsoft senior leaders are now executive vice presidents

Microsoft's newly revised corporate structure has a small but interesting change for the senior leaders at the company. Many of the top execs at Microsoft had "President" in their formal title. Now the new structure has given all of the senior leaders the new title of "Executive Vice President" in charge of their particular divisions.

In the newly revamped Senior Leaders web page at Microsoft, you can see that only Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner have kept their titles. Everyone else on the page is now an "Executive Vice President".

The big question: Why make nearly every major executive at Microsoft a VP? Some are already speculating that this new structure, and indeed the entire reorganization, gives even more power at Microsoft to Ballmer. Many have wondered if he will even groom a possible successor when he leaves as CEO and this new revamp of the company makes predicting a future replacement for Ballmer harder than ever.

Ballmer will hold a phone conference with members of the media and financial analysts today at 12:30 pm Pacific Time (3:30 pm Eastern Time) to talk more about today's announced changes.
