When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grow up? A pilot, perhaps? Some might say a doctor, lawyer, fire fighter, etc. Some of us do grow up and achieve that dream and some might take on a different path.
The point is, even at that young age, we all have dreams. If you are passionate about those dreams, you will take steps to achieve them, no matter the obstacles that stand in your way.
You must have the right strategies that will reinforce your actions. There is no other way but to stay the course once you know your plan of action to achieve your goals. Don't waste your time waiting for the right moment or opportunity. Start immediately and create your own opportunity.
However, you also have to be realistic. Break down your goals and concentrate on the things that can be done right now. They all contribute towards the bigger goal. If you want to be a doctor, the foundation is to do well in school, get the necessary qualifications before going to medical school. Then you must finish medical school before you are allowed to practice. This is how you stay passionate to achieve your goal.
When your goals have been specified, take the necessary steps to achieve them. Keep in mind that a lot of people don't succeed because they developed a lousy plan of action. They don't specify things so most of the time they are lost and don't know which way to go or how to go about doing things. You can read up on self help materials to help you with this.
It is also good to have a set of values or principles in life. Staying true to your values means that you will not be easily swayed or distracted from your path to success. People who don't have their own values will find distractions everywhere. They can't focus on the task at hand and find themselves starting and abandoning projects halfway as soon as something else more interesting pops up.
There will be times when you find that you are not really passionate in doing things. This could be because you are not in the right environment or you are doing things for the wrong reasons. Take a step back and reevaluate your situation to see if a change will make things better.
Don't despair if you have to give up something. It doesn't mean that you have failed. Your plans are not set in stone. You have to reevaluate and make changes from time to time because things change. You change. Your expectations change. Your plans must adapt with the change.
Have faith in yourself. After all, if you have the right plan of action, you know that you have prepared yourself for each step. You must believe that you have what it takes to be successful. If you go into anything having doubts, then you have already failed before even taking the first step.
Most importantly, be passionate in all things you do and you will achieve whatever you desire.
