In January 2010, Linda Harris? husband was diagnosed with leukemia, a blood cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. ?Since he is an only child and our children are adopted, an immediate search was necessary to find a matching donor. We were very fortunate to identify a single donor that was available from the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry and he received a stem cell transplant in June of last year?, stated Harris, owner of Tinkles Baby Gifts.
According to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, more than 1 million people in North America alone are fighting blood cancers, which happens to be the third leading cause of cancer deaths. Harris wanted to use her company to give back to the very community that supported her and her family throughout their journey. For the month of September, Tinkles Baby Gifts is doing something special. They will donate 40% of the proceeds from the Tinkles Orange Sherbert & Cream diaper cake to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Because orange is the color that signifies Leukemia awareness, Tinkles Orange Sherbert & Cream was designed to reflect their campaign.
Harris recalls, ?As his caregiver, growing the Tinkles brand became a much needed therapy for me and this way of giving back is really about out our journey and in our way promoting awareness with our personal story of the increasing need for racial and ethnic diversity in the Bone Marrow Registry?.
If you have a baby shower to go to this month, or would like to give a gift to a new mom, partner with Tinkles for this great cause!
