Blun?ders with the sys?tems, which han?dle tasks from enter?tain?ing with Pan?dora Inter?net radio to read?ing text mes?sages and map?ping out direc?tions, have dragged on Ford?s show?ings in sur?veys by Con?sumer Reports and J.D. Power & Asso?ciates. The No. 2 U.S. automaker said last month that it expects to fall short with qual?ity met?rics for a sec?ond straight year. GM?s sys?tem for its Cadil?lac brand has drawn neg?a?tive com?par?isons with Ford?s in early reviews by Con?sumer Reports.

While its rivals plunged ahead with advanced con?trols and aban?doned trusty knobs and but?tons, Chrysler has moved more slowly with its sim?pler Ucon?nect system.

Chrysler, which intro?duced its Ucon?nect sys?tem in 2003, has been rel?a?tively quiet in mar?ket?ing its tech?nol?ogy com?pared with GM and Ford. The automaker has intro?duced updated ver?sions of its touch screens into new mod?els as they debut rather than blan?ket?ing its whole lineup with its lat?est up-to-date system.
