It was emotional. It was amazing. My son hasn't stopped smiling. The judge had some wonderfully kind words for him and for our family. Because he's 12, he got to speak and consent to the adoption and to his name change (he changed his whole name because he was named after his bio dad).
We just came back from celebrating at a Chinese buffet. Now my son is playing "search and rescue" with his sisters in the woods behind our house (we got him walkie talkies as an adoption gift). My husband and I are enjoying the peace and quiet over coffee.
If there is any doubt that my son was created for our family, take a look at this photo of him and his sisters (our bio daughters) and tell me which kid isn't biologically ours
