Jeffrey Trondson left the home he shared with his parents Thursday evening to take care of his motorcycle.

He told his dad he would head to the carwash and be home in 20 minutes, when the two planned to wax their motorcycles.

But Trondson, 29, of Burnsville, was killed in Apple Valley in a collision with a car driven by an alleged drunken driver.

"He was ripped out of our life way too early," said Karen Trondson, Jeffrey's mother. "We depended on him so much here -- him and his dad were best friends."

Trondson died at the scene as a result of multiple blunt-force injuries, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner.

sure that everything was all right and that his motorcycle hadn't broken down but couldn't reach him, Karen Trondson said.

A friend had passed the scene and noticed a blue motorcycle with a flame design and told another friend, who brought Williams to the scene, she said.

Trondson had a gift for working with wood and creating things, and he used his passion to create his business, Trondson Finish Carpentry, Karen Trondson said.

Jeffrey Trondson also was an avid angler, hunter and outdoorsman, she said.

The driver of the car, Leah Marie Colwell, 44, of Apple Valley, was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, driving while impaired, driving after cancellation and open bottle, according to Apple Valley police.

Colwell

was making a left-hand turn onto northbound Harwell Avenue from eastbound 160th Street when she crossed in front of Trondson's motorcycle just after 8 p.m., police said.

Colwell was being held in the Dakota County Jail and is expected in court for a pretrial hearing on Aug. 20.
